Hemp is fast becoming a household name with its popularity arising from the plant's numerous benefits. Well, how well do you know the products derived from this magic plant?
Many people actually have little clue about the difference between hemp CBD oil and hemp seed oil. This is because the line between the two is thin enough to cause confusion in some aspects. Also, the internet is full of misleading information about hemp plants.
In this article, we find out all the confusion between Hemp Seed Oil and CBD oil. Let's deduce the first difference between the two.
Probably the cause of confusion between the two oils is their source. Well, now that CBD oil and hemp seed oil are products of the hemp plant, where does the difference come in?
Extracting the two products presents two totally different methods. For one, CBD oil is extracted from the hemp plant using the CO2 extraction method as the safest and most popular one. On the other hand, hemp seed oil is derived by cold pressing hemp seeds.
One more thing to note is that CBD oil is extracted from the leaves and stalks of the hemp plant. Hemp seed oil is obtained from hemp seeds. The reason for this is that the leaves and stalks harbour more phytocannabinoid content. Hemp seeds are also known to have high oil content.
There is a particular reason why the difference between the two products is of significant interest to the skincare world. Hemp seed oil has more skincare applications than other uses. On the other hand, Cannabidiol oil has a number of skincare benefits alongside the many therapeutic benefits.
So what's the difference?
Cannabidiol oil benefits include having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These two ensure a skin free from rashes, acne eczema and psoriasis. The oil is also helpful for correcting sensitive skin. The action of CBD oil is based on the endocannabinoid system 's cannabinoid receptors. Once the CBD oil attaches to these receptors, a number of homeostatic reactions ensue which helps in optimizing the functioning of the physiology surrounding skincare.
What about hemp seed oil? Hemp seed oil acts as an anti-inflammatory and skin moisturiser. The oil is applied topically on the skin on its own or added to another beauty product. Hemp seed oil achieves its benefits by not clogging skin pores, unlike some skincare products.
As already noted, hemp seed oil is produced from hemp seeds and does not have any phytocannabinoids in it. It's unethical to see a number of brands selling hemp seed oil as CBD oil or as having CBD oil.
Many skincare enthusiasts will rather go for Cannabidiol oil as compared to hemp seed oil. The high market demand for CBD oil and low production cost of hemp seed oil are the precursors of all this. Consumers are easily taken for a ride by brands implying that the two are the same.
